Sclerotherapy of Varicose Veins in munich
Sclerotherapy of Varicose Veins
Everybody wants them: smooth, sleek, well-trained legs without visible blue veins, but only a few are so lucky. In the course of their lives, almost 80% of the population develop varicose veins that are more or less pronounced. While varicose vein-like changes to the larger truncal veins are a severe health problem, the small, ugly spider veins are merely an aesthetic issue. Nevertheless, they can have a negative impact on the quality of life and even lead to restrictions in the daily routine, if the affected persons suffer accordingly. After the spider veins have been phlebologically evaluated to ensure that no medically significant venous disease is hidden underneath, they can be removed without hesitation.
Treatment is performed with a so-called “Micro Sclerotherapy.“ A solution is injected into the small, delicate veins, which irritates the vein’s internal lining, causing the injected veins to stick together, effectively closing the spider vein. Once it has been removed, it is no longer visible.
Using a fine, sterile cannula, the spider veins are punctured as centrally as possible at the confluence of several varices at a flat angle. The sclerosant is slowly injected into the vessel. If the cannula is positioned correctly, a draining of the vessel can be observed. The treatment is virtually painless, although a slight burning sensation may be noticeable. A local anesthetic can be applied if desired. The vessel is then compressed with a swab or a patch. The treatment is concluded by applying a compression bandage or donning compression stockings.
In a first treatment procedure, Dr. med. Dr. med. Christina Irene Günter will perform a trial sclerotherapy to exclude potential incompatibilities.
Compression bandages or compression stockings have to be worn for another two days. The first follow-up appointment will be one week after the procedure.
Even after successful treatment, spider veins often form again so that treatments have to be repeated usually every few years.
In a personal consultation, Dr. med. Dr. med. Christina Irene Günter will discuss sensitively and in detail which treatment or therapy is to be recommended in your individual case. Dr. med. Dr. med. Christina Irene Günter will also explain the course of treatment as well as possible adverse side effects and risks.
