As we age, our faces lose their natural contours. However, facial volume can be restored effectively with autologous fat injections. The most significant advantage of this procedure is that most people have sufficient fat reserves to be harvested. Most of the fat grafted from a patient\u2019s own body survives and does not have to be replenished regularly.<\/p>

With increasing age, our face and skin are susceptible to natural changes. These include volumetric losses in the deeper tissue layers, fatty and conjunctive tissue, and bone degradation. In addition, the facial conjunctive tissue slackens: the loosened tissue layers and excessive skin are pulled downwards by gravity, changing the facial contours.<\/p>

Natural volume therapy with autologous fat effectively counteracts this tendency, replenishing the subdermal fatty tissue and smoothing the skin\u2019s surface.<\/p>

Treatment with autologous fat can be combined with various modern therapies for facial treatments. Forehead, cheeks, the central area of your face, nasolabial folds, chin, and jawline can be corrected simultaneously.<\/p>

During the treatment, fatty tissue can be harvested from the abdomen, the hip, or the thighs \u2013 without leaving significant scars. The tissue will then be treated in a special process and subsequently reinjected into the body. Using a unique surgical technique, I will inject small fatty tissue parcels into the area to be treated, replacing missing volume and rejuvenating the skin.<\/p>

This process is called autologous fat transfer and is based on the fact that living fat cells can be harvested from one part of the body and reinjected at another location. Where and how much fat is injected into the facial skin depends on your skin\u2019s condition and will be determined during the preliminary consultation.<\/p>

The surgery can be performed on an outpatient or inpatient basis. However, general anesthesia or twilight sleep or local anesthesia will be necessary.<\/p>

Facial rejuvenation with autologous fat may lead to infections, local bleeding, bruising (hematoma), swelling (possibly prolonged), temporary loss of sensitivity at the donor site, and slight asymmetries.<\/p>

The follow-up treatment depends on the type and extent of the procedure. You should refrain from physical exercises for 9 to 12 weeks. Please keep in mind that only 40 to 80 % of the fat cells usually survive a fat transfer. For a perfect result, a second operation may be necessary after 9 to 12 months.<\/p>

It goes without saying that your health is always given priority. Surgery that negatively affects your health or physical integrity is not recommended and should not be performed in the first place.<\/p>
