Breast Reduction \/ Reduction Mammaplasty<\/h2>

Large breasts (macromastia or gigantomastia) are not solely an aesthetic problem. They are heavy, and their weight lies above and in front of the body\u2019s center of gravity. Sooner or later, many women develop specific complaints that may become pathological. Back- and shoulder pains may seem harmless, but they often lead to permanent postural defects, excessive wear and tear on the spine, and even herniated discs. Add to that the psychological distress associated with large breasts, especially in young girls. These issues may persist for a lifetime, negatively impacting their social and sexual relationships, and may even trigger depression. Quite often, large breasts cause severe discomfort during physical activities. Consequently, the affected girls and women avoid such exercise, which, in turn, promotes obesity.\u00a0<\/p>

A breast reduction, therefore, is not merely a cosmetic procedure; it also brings functional relief and emotional well-being to the affected women.<\/p>

Before such a surgical procedure, detailed consultations are imperative. It is essential to talk about the motivation for this kind of surgery, to discuss whether the desired result can be achieved, and to speak about possible limitations. Other important topics are alternative treatments, as well as potential adverse side effects and possible risks.\u00a0<\/p>

Depending on the shape of the breasts and the desired result, there are several incision options which will form different scars. Risks<\/h2>

As with any surgical procedure, breast reduction surgery may lead to bruising (hematoma), secondary bleeding, swelling, wound healing disorders, infections, and wound dehiscence. Temporary numbness of the treated area may also occur. It is only natural to feel some tension in your breasts after breast reduction surgery that may last for several weeks.<\/p>
